Cap’n Crunch French Toast

image

This is a specialty at Blue Moon Cafe, but I have had this at many other places near New Jersey. This is actually very easy to make, it is just as simple as making regular french toast except adding an extra step or two. (http://www.wbaltv.com/article/blue-moon-cafe-s-cap-n-crunch-french-toast/7102106)

I love french toast and cap’n crunch, so having them both together in one dish is amazing. The cap’n crunch adds a more texture to the french toast. I love how crunchy it gets from adding the cereal. This would also be a really good late night snack!

Holy Guacamole!

I have heard a lot around campus that people are obsessed with guacamole. I personally do not like it, but my friend send me a recipe that she uses. https://spoonuniversity.com/recipe/gimme-guac

This recipe is super easy, so feel free to add extra ingredients. My friends add crushed red pepper to their guac to add some spice. You can put on sandwiches, use as a dip, and more!

This is also very cheap because there are not a lot of ingredients used in the dish. If you have free time and want to make a light snack during finals this is a good one to make!!

Brown Sugar & Cinnamon Apples

image

Brown sugar and cinnamon apples are a good dessert to have when you don’t want a heavy snack to end the night.

I usually make these for breakfast, but I used the stove. However, if you do not have time to cook the apples on the stove, here is a recipe to make it in the microwave. (http://eatathomecooks.com/2012/10/1-minute-brown-sugar-and-cinnamon-apples/

You can cut up the apples as small as you want. I usually do the regular size sliced apples, but in this case small cubed apples might work better because they can cook easier in the microwave. This tastes more delicious if you serve it with ice cream and who doesn’t love ice cream around finals season!?!

Cinnamon Bun Waffles

Have an extra waffle maker lying around? This is a great desert or breakfast dish. This is a fun way to switch up from the usual breakfast foods.

This is cinnamon bun waffle! The instructions are to take the canned cinnamon buns and you put them directly in the waffle maker. Make sure you do not let them burn because there is sugar on top. After you make the waffle you melt the icing and drizzle it over the waffles or you can use syrup.

I make this at home weekly. My family loves it and have it when make this and this a great dish to make for friends and family!!

Banana Bites!

image

Want some things fun and sweet for quick snack? These frozen banana bites are a healthy and yummy way to get some energy throughout the day.

This is very easy and cheap to do, especially in a college dorm. Just pick your choice of peanut butter, bananas, and some chocolate chips. All you have to do is cut up the bananas and put peanut butter in the middle, then freeze it for around 20 minutes. Next melt the chocolate chips and dip half of the banana-peanut butter “sandwich” in the chocolate and let it freeze again.

These good to have just in the fridge if you want some thing to snack on and you don’t want to have junk food.

Friendsgiving

What better way to celebrate Thanksgiving than with friends! Friendsgiving is a fun and creative way to have Thanksgiving with your friends before or after break. There are multiple ways you can do this, you can cook all of the food or do a potluck where everyone brings a dish.

For menu ideas, you can have green beans, mashed potatoes, candied yams, mac and cheese, etc. If you do not want to cook a turkey because 1. thats a lot of effort and 2. moneyyyyy, you can cook cornish hens and everyone can have their own individual cornish hen! One thing that I found was very popular was no bake pumpkin cheesecake. Here is the recipe for it if you want to try it: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/202310208234933178/

Beer and Cupcakes?

image

While searching the web, I stumbled upon this recipe for Chocolate Stout Cupcakes. Beer is a large part of college life and if you own it, you can also make cupcakes!! (https://spoonuniversity.com/recipe/awesome-ways-cook-with-beer)

I doubt you can taste the beer in the cupcakes, but it probably doesn’t change the texture of the batter. I think since the cream cheese frosting and the beer are both inside the batter, it makes it taste good and have a regular texture. I would not be surprised if people have already accidentally tried this recipe because it is common to cook for alcohol. I am not 21 yet so I can’t make this, but if anyone can legally make this, tell me how it tastes!

Halloween Snacks!

image

Although these look they are for children, they are also for college students! These are fun and cute if you are hosting a hangout on halloween and want somewhat healthy snacks. These are apples with peanut butter and white chocolate covered almonds.

If I was not allergic to uncooked apples, I would devour these because I LOVE peanut butter and almonds. Although I am not a fan of chocolate covered nuts, this snack probably tastes good because chocolate and peanut butter is a great mix.

I think this would also be good if you were to use Nutella because Nutella tastes delicious on any and everything. If anyone tries this recipe or suggests add/changing anything comment below!!

Smoothie Bowls

image

Although I hate to admit it, I am obsessed with smoothie bowls. I do not follow any recipes when I make the smoothie bowls because I am picky with what fruit I like, but I will list the fruit and base I use.

What I do is I buy a large bag of frozen fruit from the supermarket and then I buy fresh bananas and cut them up and freeze them. My usual smoothie consists Almond Breeze Almond Milk, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and cherries. If I do not have almost milk then I put 2% milk. I also enjoy putting peanut butter in the smoothie when I need protein. For my toppings, I put granola, fresh blueberries, and fresh bananas. I will occasionally put a drizzle of honey, but it depends of my mood.

When I make smoothies for other people, they often like frozen mangos and apple juice as the base. Definitely try different fruits and bases because you might find a smoothie combination that you really like!
